Thuocsi is an online B2B marketplace for pharmaceutical, health and personal care needs.

The website thuocsi.vn was launched in Ho Chi Minh City in 2018 by Singapore-based health-tech firm, Buymed, with the aim of simplifying Vietnam’s healthcare distribution process. In many developing countries, pharmaceuticals and medical supplies are sourced at outdoor wholesale markets, which are increasingly at risk of becoming obsolete. Thuocsi was launched with the vision of enabling independent healthcare practitioners, such as small, family-run drugstores and clinics, to thrive in fast digitizing societies, by taking the sourcing process of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies online.

The platform connects pharmacies, clinics, and hospitals, enabling mom-and-pop drugstore owners to source and procure their drug and medical supplies, and get it delivered to their doorstep in one day or less. Since its launch, it has become the leading B2B sourcing platform for more than 40,000 drugstores, and over 25,000 clinics around Vietnam. It also provides real-time pricing, important updates like product recalls, as well as detailed information on active ingredients – playing a key role in increasing the healthcare industry supply-chain’s transparency and efficiency.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, Thuocsi has significantly helped Vietnamese healthcare practitioners source medical supplies, by providing an online alternative to traditional methods of sourcing. The platform has delivered supplies and pharmaceuticals to over 6,000 pharmacies country-wide.

Thuocsi was founded by Hoang Nguyen, who also co-founded Dentalaborate, a platform that helps dentists produce crowns in an hour, Peter Nguyen, a UC Berkeley graduate with a background in management consulting, and Vu Vuong, who also founded his own pharma company specialising in antibiotics and nutrients.
